With the recent appointment of new justices, the Supreme Court of Pakistan released an updated seniority list. Yahya Afridi, the Chief Justice of Pakistan, is now the most senior judge, followed by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah.

The top 24 judges in the updated seniority rankings are listed as follows:

This came about as a result of Chief Justice Yahya Afridi administering the oath to the six recently appointed Supreme Court judges at a swearing-in ceremony at the highest court.

Aamer Farooq was appointed Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court and Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court on Monday by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP), which was presided over by CJP Justice Yahya Afridi.

The appointments of Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui, Muhammad Hashim Khan Kakar, Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court, and Ishtiaq Ibrahim, Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court, to the highest court were authorized by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP).

Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb took the oath of office as an ad hoc judge of the Supreme Court in addition to the six regular judges.

The oath-taking event was attended by the Attorney General of Pakistan, attorneys, SC employees, and other prominent individuals.

“The judges were nominated by the majority of the commission’s members to serve as Supreme Court of Pakistan judges.”

The announcement further stated that Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb of the Islamabad High Court was nominated by the JCP, which consists of the majority of its members, to serve as the Acting Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
