On International Women’s Day, Pakistan unveiled a comprehensive gender policy framework to better the lives of almost half of the country’s population in a methodical manner.

Pakistan’s planning ministry recognised in an official handout issued the day before that the nation had one of the lowest gender equality rankings in the world, but added that the government was fully aware of its constitutional obligation to safeguard women’s rights.

In a tweet, planning minister Asad Umar said, “National gender policy framework being released by ministry of planning today, which is also international women’s day.” “It establishes a systematic framework with clearly defined aims and duties for improving the lives of Pakistani women.”
