Imran Khan’s exclusion from a celebration film honoring Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day has put the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in the middle of a significant uproar.
Imran Khan is a legendary figure in politics and cricket, and his removal has sparked outrage among supporters who claim the PCB caved in to political pressure.
In the 1992 ODI World Cup, Pakistan was led by cricketing legend Imran Khan to a triumph that changed the course of cricket in the country. Khan is regarded as one of the greatest cricketers in history, thus his exclusion from the memorial film has confused and demoralized fans.

The history of Pakistani cricket is forever inscribed in Imran Khan’s cricketing accomplishments. Khan is the only Pakistani skipper to have won the coveted ODI World Cup, therefore his exclusion from the tribute film seems to have infuriated fans who consider his cricketing accomplishments to be a crucial part of Pakistan’s athletic heritage.

The video also disregarded Pakistan’s women’s team’s accomplishments. The women’s team’s accomplishments were just briefly and only highlighted in the video. Sana Mir, Bismah Maroof, and Kiran Baloch, some of Pakistan’s top performers throughout the years, were also left out of the film.

A 2-0 Test victory over Sri Lanka and the winning of the first Asia Cup were substituted for Pakistan’s incredible achievement of becoming the top Test side under Misbah-ul-Haq in 2016.

To add salt to the wounds of the Pakistan cricket fans, the video montage shows former PM Benazir Bhutto handing over the World Cup winners trophy to Sri Lanka in 1996 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, and Pakistan’s first captain, Abdul Hafeez Kardar sitting with former PM Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, which left the fans fuming as it had nothing to do with Pakistan cricket’s achievement but rather displayed a clear bias by Zaka Ashraf, who was appointed by the PPP.
