Najam Sethi, the recently appointed chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has stated that the national cricket team should have foreign coaches.
Details indicate that Najam Sethi recently said that the destiny of the existing coaching team, commanded by Saqlain Mushtaq, would be decided at the following meeting.
Sethi told the reporters in Lahore, “We will make a decision tomorrow regarding Saqlain Mushtaq and Mohammad Yousuf.”
The PCB Chairman also stated that local cricketers will manage other board affairs, but they will not serve as team coaches.
Sethi referred to the time period when head coach Mickey Arthur was in charge as the national team’s “golden age,” during which the team made a number of noteworthy accomplishments.
Najam Sethi affirmed, “We were global number one in both ODI and Test cricket, and we also won the Champions Trophy.
The PCB chief cited “they will not do nepotism and favouritism whereas the local will do” as the rationale for hiring foreign coaches.
It should be noted that the present coaching group, under by head coach Saqlain Mushtaq, came under heavy fire after England thrashed Pakistan in the Test series.
Najam Sethi made significant changes to the board after taking over as PCB chief this week, including getting rid of the entire selection committee.
