The Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) government has formally outlawed the use, sale, production, and transit of plastic bottles inside the area in an effort to protect public health and the environment.
Following a high-level meeting on Thursday that was presided over by the GB Chief Secretary and attended by notable authorities including the Inspector General and Home Secretary, this historic action was taken.
The choice was made in light of the known negative effects of plastic bottles on human health and the fragile ecological balance.
A law has been passed, Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), that forbids the importation of plastic bottles into the United Kingdom (GB) from other countries, beginning on September 1, 2023.
Directives have been distributed to all governmental bodies, linked departments, subordinate offices, autonomous entities, and semi-governmental organizations to guarantee the execution of this restriction.
The intention is to prevent the use of plastic bottles in public areas including workplaces, conferences, seminars, and workshops.
