A video of a mob wearing saffron scarves interrupting and emptying out a showing of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Bachchhan Paandey’ has gone viral on the internet recently.
According to Indian media sources, the mob forcibly stopped the Bollywood film’s screening and demanded that ‘The Kashmir Files’ be shown instead.
While the incident was caught on camera, it is not the first time that theatre owners have had to deal with the problem. An exhibitor alleged to a news website that groups ranging from 10 to 100 persons are causing a nuisance on the premises. One such group fought the theatre employees, saying that a scene from the film had been deleted.
Over the weekend, Akshay’s film suffered a battering. On its first weekend, the film only made roughly Rs 34 crore. Meanwhile, in just 11 days, ‘The Kashmir Files’ has made an estimated Rs 180 crore.
