Nadra advises public to cancel deceased relatives id cards

According to a Saturday report, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) advised residents to deactivate the identification cards of departed family members in order to avoid legal irregularities.

The ID cards of the deceased are still active in NADRA’s records even though close to seven million deaths have been registered in union councils throughout Pakistan. The cancellation of deceased people’s cards is a vital legal need, NADRA emphasized.

SMS messages are being issued to Pakistani individuals using accessible cellphone numbers in an effort to increase awareness. Family members may face serious challenges, including delays in completing their identification credentials, if these ID cards are not cancelled, the government cautioned. NADRA further recommended that individuals get in touch with their respective union council secretaries to amend any inaccurate death registrations.

Close family members, such as the deceased’s spouse, kids, or parents, can fill out the free ID card cancellation form at any NADRA facility. The goal of this program is to guarantee correct records in the national database and stop any abuse of active ID cards.

In order to prevent legal violations and complexities in administrative and other legal situations, NADRA has also emphasized the significance of prompt action. To give residents more convenience, the National Database and Registration Authority previously set up specific counters at post offices in a number of Punjabi cities. Another noteworthy move by the government is this program, which aims to expedite and simplify the national identity card issuance procedure.
