Zargham Khan Durrani has been appointed President and CEO of MCB Islamic Bank, effective February 21, 2023.
He took over after Muhammad Afaq Ahmed, who had only been in the position for a year.
Zargham Khan Durrani has over 27 years of financial experience. He worked at MCB Bank as the Group Head of Retail Banking (SEVP).
Durrani has a long and successful track record of turning concepts become reality. He is a seasoned banking expert with hands-on experience in branch banking, digital banking, SME/Commercial loans, and coaching, motivating, and leading from the front. The evolution of MCB Bank’s retail franchise over the previous 15 years demonstrates his achievement.
Apart from MCB Bank, he has worked with Standard Chartered Bank, Union Bank, and other local and international financial firms. He has also served as Director of MNET Service (PVT), an MCB Bank fully owned subsidiary (now merged into MCB Bank). MNET was Pakistan’s first firm to provide a secure electronic inter-bank connection platform for online financial transactions.
In less than a year, Durrani’s predecessor departed the bank with record profit growth. During the time, the bank achieved a big profit of Rs. 1.52 billion in 2022, compared to a profit of over Rs. 100 million in 2021.
MCB Islamic Bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of MCB Bank. The bank has almost 200 branches around the nation.
